We have been cleaning and organizing through the daycare and of our own children's things and are giving away a bunch of children's books. Most in brand new condition. Please feel free to check by the cubbies and take any books home with you that your child may like!

Photography

My friend Felicia has started her own photography business and is going to be at the ice cream social on Friday to take pictures. Each family will receive a free 8X10 with a signed model release waiver and additional photos can be purchased at an affordable price. If you are interested in having photos taken of your child let me know. She is also willing to come on another day if your child will not be at daycare. Check out her site here...

Ice Cream Social

Friday June 18th is Ms. Stacey's Birthday and we will be celebrating with friends outdoors with an ice cream social at 3:00pm. Parents are invited. Please bring in one box of cones for the big event.

New Vaccine Requirements for Children

The Hepatitis A and influenza (flu shot) vaccines have been added to the list of REQUIRED immunizations for children enrolled at daycare! Children who have not received the flu vaccine (ages 6 months-4 years) by Dec 31st must be excluded from child care for the duration of the influenza season (through March 31st) or until they receive at least one dose of the influenza vaccine.

I've been sick for a couple of days with bronchitis, sinus infection and fevers but was immediately treated and given antibiotics...Last night Aiden began having a fever and complained about a sore throat but currently doesn't have any other symptoms..Please watch for any signs of illness in your children.

The heat is on!!!

Rest assured Nelson has just installed our air conditioners in the living room and where the children nap! Water is being served throughout the day to keep the kiddies hydrated and sunscreen is applied 15 minutes before we go outdoors. We also avoid the hottest part of the day and go outside only between 9am-11am and 3pm-5:30pm... If the children have water shoes for the backyard please send as not to soak there sneakers while playing with water...

Found a great place that is just right for our age group called Elephant Steps LLC, is an indoor recreational facility providing a safe, clean and fun environment for children ages 0-10. Here is some information on the place. I hope to take the kids there this summer...

Field Trip #2

I will be planning two trips a month...One that is free or inexpensive and the other that may be a little more costly. Our second trip will be to BounceU in Stratford on June 22 for the Preschool Playdate (ages 6 and under only). The cost is $12 per child which includes 1 and 1/2 hours of bouncing and 1/2 hour in the party room for a snack. We will be leaving at 9am sharp. Parents are welcome please have your child wear his daycare shirt.

Field Trip

Our first summer field trip will be to Silverman's Farm on June 1st! Admission is $2 per child and we need each child to have a lunch packed to eat there...including a juice box. We should be leaving by 9am and returning by 12pm. If it rains we will reschedule. Please have your child wear his daycare shirt. Parents are welcomed to come.

I just received a letter from the Department of Neighborhood Revitalization that two buildings located on 27 and 31 Polk Street are to be demolished. This notifies us the abutting property owner that the demolition is to occur by May 28, 2010.

I've contacted the department and though they say that there should not be any problems with debris there are no guarantees. When actual demolition begin to happen I will let my parents know. If I feel it is an unsafe environment because of air pollution, noise etc I will contact parents to pick up there children early.

Last Minute Field Trip!! Boys Outing...

Tomorrow Nelson will be taking our sons to see How to Train Your Dragon at the Bow-Tie Cinemas in Trumbull at 12:05pm. Any daycare child who wishes to go will need to bring $7.50 for their ticket. Concession stands are expensive so I'd encourage parents to bring juice boxes and snacks for their child. Field Trip consent forms will be available to sign tomorrow and those needing car seats will be asked to leave theirs for the trip. The movie is 98 minutes long. The children will be getting brunch before they leave. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR THEIR DAYCARE T-SHIRTS!

-We are celebrating Tre's 3rd birthday this Friday please bring a snack to share.

-Scholastics are due this Friday if you submitted an order online please let me know.

-Summer is around the corner so please feel free to take your child's clothing bag home and put in shorts, swim trucks, t-shirts, swim shoes (to avoid running barefoot) and sunscreen! Can't wait for the sprinklers!

-Make sure your child's doctor's form is up to date. This is needed at the daycare by the state.

-Unfortunately this year will be hard for us to make field trips as we only have one car now. Walks around the neighborhood and backyard play is in store for us.

-The children have been learning the differences of SHORT and LONG and BIG and SMALL. Please try to talk to your children about this at home. Go over lessons at home that we have done in our notebooks i.e. Red, Blue, Green, Circles, the number 1.
