What's going on!

It was a beautiful day and I was happy to get out of the house. Who knows how many days we have left to do that. The kids had a great time at the Trumbull mall playground. Though it seems by the end the kids were overly exhausted and grumpy.

Tuesday December 8th I have a doctor's appointment at 9:45am.

We are having a Holiday playdate on Wednesday December 23rd. There will be a grab bag so please bring in something wrapped that is gender neutral of no more than $5.

The daycare is closed on December 24 & 25th for Christmas & Christmas Eve.

What's going on!

Zohar's last day is Friday...Everyone bring in a treat to share...There will be 5 children total plus me at the daycare on Friday.

I have an appointment on Tuesday 24th at 10:30am...Nelson will be here. I will have reached my 3rd trimester and now my appointments are every 2 weeks YIKES!

We are having our Thanksgiving playdate on November 25th. Please remember to bring a dish to share. We are expecting a couple of mom's group visitors with their children to help us celebrate!

The daycare is closed on Thursday and Friday of next week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Tuition must be received by Monday 23rd.

Please review our sick policy located on the contract you signed. Currently all children at the daycare have runny noses and/or coughs. If your child has a runny nose please bring in a box of tissue! If would be great to teach your children how to sneeze and cough into the crook of their arm so as to minimize spreading germs.

We will be going on our field trip to Jones Family Farm in Shelton on October 16th at 10am. I figure each child will need $5 to get on the hayride & buy a small pumpkin. Please bring in lunch, juice and snack for your child that day. Pay attention to the weather and dress your child appropriately. If the forecast calls for rain I will change the date. My friend Carly will be coming with us to help. If any parents wishes to come feel free too!

Two Upcoming Dates--

October 15-Jones Family Farm Pumpkin picking!! You child will need approximately $5-10 for a pumpkin and apple cider/cookie. We will be leaving @ 10am and will be back by 1pm.

October 30th-We will be celebrating Halloween at the daycare by inviting friends to come over. Parents are asked to bring a bag of treats to share with others and all children to come in costume. We will have stories, pizza for lunch, cake and with weather permitting a treat hunt in the backyard!

Emergency Preparedness.

Focus on Fire: Preparedness

September is National Preparedness Month. Citizens would benefit from learning how to be ready in case of natural or man-made disasters. Preparing in advance can lessen or eliminate deaths, injuries, and property damage. In most types of disasters the risk for fire is increased due to loose electrical wires, broken gas lines, flooding, or the lack of electricity. In addition, fires in residences are a personal disaster striking hundreds of thousands of homes each year. For these reasons, each of us should take the time to find out how to be prepared.

We here at Stacey's Incredible Kids, LLC take safety very seriously. Here are just a few of the many safety features in our home. Most of not required by the state of Connecticut for family daycares, I have noted which are required below (very few). I am first and foremost a parent and understand the importance of keeping my children safe. I have had many of these features in my home before I became licensed. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to let us know.

We also have posted the daycare's emergency evacuation procedures and map of the layout of the emergency exits on the ground floor (There are three emergency exits). If you would like a copy please let me know.

-We have the standard 5 lb fire extinguisher (required by the state of Connecticut) and we also have two others on the ground floor alone.
-Each floor (including the basement) has fire alarms (required by the state of Connecticut). The ground floor also has a carbon monoxide detector.
-The front door, basement doors and sliding doors are all equipped with an alert signal the alerts me if any of the doors open.
-The sliding door also has a safety bar so that the door cannot open unless it is lifted.
-The basement door has a sliding lock higher than the lock already on the door so little hands can't reach.
-On the second floor we have Guardian Angel Window Guards where the children sleep. They are the safest window guard on the market! Others are permanently mounted, which could spell disaster in a fire. This one withstands 150 lbs. of pressure, yet removes easily with emergency release buttons. I would highly recommend for those who have multi-floor homes.
-The second floor also has two fire extinguishers.-The second floor also has two story fire escape ladder which I also recommend.
-We have a emergency preparedness bin in our basement which contains 12 hour glow sticks, emergency blankets, dust masks, multi-tools, solar radio, batteries, manual can opener, water proof matches, rope, gloves, flash lights, water packettes, army food rations and more.
-We also have a fully stocked first aid kit, covers on all outlets and cabinet latches (required by the state of Connecticut).

WELCOME BACK!

It was a great week off and a nice break from the norm with my family. Unfortunately yesterday I had a death in my family and will have to travel to Massachusetts tomorrow. Please remember to bring in juice, wipes and diapers for your child on Thursday for the month.

A word of Potty Training....

Currently we have 3 out of 5 children potty training at the daycare. Children must show an interest in potty training and be able to announce when he has to go potty. Children who show interest may use pullups and those who can announce when they have to go can wear padded underwear. All children potty-training should be wearing user-friendly clothing.

When accidents occur, your child will be expected to help with correcting the situation, including cleaning up their mess, packing up their soiled clothing, and retrieving and changing into their spare clothes. This is necessary in order to reinforce that it is more pleasant to work on learning to go potty properly, rather than simply make a mess and let someone else clean it up.

Some children may do well at toilet training for several weeks, then decide that it’s too much trouble and they don’t want to be bothered with having to remember to go on their own. If your child experiences a lot of accidents (more than one or two per week) and/or your child begins to experience other difficulties with toileting, such as refusing to go, willfully making messes, refusing to be responsible for cleaning up their accidents, etc., then it may be necessary to return the child to pullups or diapers.

Please keep in mind that the burden of training your child to successfully go potty will need to reside with you. I simply do not have the time and resources to devote to training each child individually since I care for more than one child at a time. I will do my best to assist you in your training efforts, and will consult with you to be sure we coordinate our efforts in order to present consistent expectations at home and at daycare. But ultimately the responsibility to potty-train your child must rest with you.
