News

Upon everyone's return we will continue to work on the color YELLOW as it's a big word and we want to make sure we all got it right.

On Tuesday March 10rd we will be going on a field trip to Trumbull mall. I will let you know sometime this week what other trips will be planned.

As far as the Pre-K Curriculum I'm still looking over the materials but I believe I'm leaning towards a sample kit from the Funshine Express catalog. This way we can try out the materials at a discounted price and see if it's a right fit for the group.

Pre-K Curriculums

I'm doing some research on some Pre-K Curriculums that I thought would be interesting for the children. Wanted to get your feedback and if you would be interested in having your child participate. I've check out the following three programs and have the information and example package here if anyone would like to take home for one evening and check them out.

Scholastic Clifford the Big Red Dog
Your subscription to this includes:
Learn Along magazine

  • Each child gets 2 issues a month to practice early reading skills
  • Repetitive, predictable text increases fluency and sight word recognition
  • Numbered and colored boxes make it easy for children to follow along with Big Issues
Learn Along Activity Pages

  • Writing features let you model how to write as children dictate sentences
  • Skill building activities teach counting, matching, rhyming and more
Teacher Receives

  • Complete lesson plans
  • Extension activities that expand on each issue's theme
  • Creative ways to meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act

The cost of this would be $4.95 per child a month. The first month is Free.

FunShine Express Early Leaning Curriculums
The Fireflies Curriculum is paced with daily activity ideas that address every area of development. Adaptable for ages 2-5. Once a month there is included a starter pack materials, monthly teacher pack and monthly children's resources i.e. 12 prepackaged art activities, the parent express monthly newsletter, weekly family notes, 3 letter practice sheet, 2-3 number practice sheets, 4 enrichment activity sheets and online extras.

Currently they are offering a sample kit for $19.99 (4 weeks of supplies for 4 children, not month specific). That would come to about $8 per child (including shipping and handling).

After that a monthly kit for the whole group would be approximately $10 a month. Big discounts if we order several months in advance

High Reach Learning Curriculum

Has age appropriate monthly materials broken down into the following Curriculums

Toddlers, Twos, Threes, and Pre-K and Passports: Experiences for Pre-K Success

There is much to this program it's best to check out the catalog. Pricing is based on your child's curriculum and may be more expensive than Funshine if everyone chooses different kits.

News & Reminders

The color of the week is YELLOW. Please go over with your child this week it's spelling and have him search for things in the house that are yellow. On Friday have your child wear something yellow.

Tomorrow we will be going to IHOP in Orange we should be back before 12. I haven't had time to run out so if anyone would like to donate some double A batteries so that I can take pictures that would be awesome!

Parents are asked to see that their children do not bring toys, food, drinks or any other items from home when they arrive. It would be best to leave it in the car before coming in as little ones have a difficult time sharing with others, and it is even harder with their own special items.

The daycare is closed for vacation next week. Payment for the week will be due by Friday.

Scholastic orders are due the Monday following vacation March 30th.

Potty training will resume after the vacation.

New Daycare Policies

This June Stacey's Incredible Kids, LLC will be in operation for 1 year. As you know with every business the first year is very important with working out any problems, implementing new ideas and figuring out what works best. Here is a list of new policies please note that most won't effect those of you who have been here since the beginning. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

  • Stacey’s Incredible Kids, LLC new primary business hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Even though we are open 9 hours a day, your child may only be in care during the time agreed to on your contract with us. We do have extended hours before and after our customary business hours. New customers will pay a premium for hours before or after customary hours. If there are any days that you must drop off your child earlier than your agreed upon time you must let me know in advance.
  • Your provider Stacey Lopez will receive three paid sick days a year after that a rate credit will be given. Rate credit will only be done if daycare is closed due to illness, medical appointments and any other personal situations that may arise.
  • President's Day will be added to the list of paid holidays for the year.
  • Toilet training policy for new customers: Although I wish I could offer each of my clients the service of potty-training their children for them, I simply cannot do that while also providing quality care to the other children in my group. For this reason, I also cannot on a regular basis deal with cleaning up potty accidents while your child is learning to use the potty independently. Your child must go through toilet training at home, under your instruction and guidance. Your child must be successfully potty-trained before I can allow him or her to stop wearing pull-ups at daycare. I will, however have a potty-chair and an adapter for the toilet available for independent use, but I simply do not have the resources to ensure your child is completely trained otherwise.

Our Trip--Garbage Museum

We had a great time at the Garbage Museum and the kids loved watching the trucks dump garbage at the facilities. They watched a movie and was totally exhausted by the time we got back. You wouldn't believe how fast they ate their pizza. I totally loved the cages....Stacey's new daycare facilities LOL!

Small Change of Plans

The Garbage Museum is open today early so we are leaving now. We will be getting pizza for the kids on the way back. I estimate our return around 1pm

Potty Training

It seems that potty training as come to a halt and the children are not as enthusiastic as they once were about it. Because of this I will no longer be actively training for the next couple of weeks. If a child announces he must use the bathroom he will be allowed to use his potty seat and still receive praise and stickers for his accomplishment.

Please keep in mind that the activity level here can distract your child from responding to an urge to us the potty, more so than at your home. Therefore, I ask that you continue your efforts at home.

Happy GroundHog Day!

Groundhog Day is an annual holiday celebrated on February 2 in the United States and Canada on which if a groundhog emerges from its burrow and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If on the other hand, it is sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.
