Swine Flu Pandemic...

I know everyone has been hearing about the Swine Flu and it getting closer than we think.. Currently there have been over 50 cases in New York and at least 2 school closings and 1 being investigated. Connecticut does not have any known cases yet.

Tre's mom has been nice enough to give me this link that her job as forwarded to it's employees for more information. http://www.aetna.com/members/facts_about_pandemic_flu.html

From what I read there is not much we can do about it except look for the signs of flu and stay away from people who are sick with symtoms. This I feel is difficult as most parents work and older sibling go to school where germs travel. For now it's best to educate ourselves on the ongoing situation and be prepared. If any parents have any suggestions for the daycare I'm all ears.

Summer

Summer seems to be here and that means we need a couple of items for your child. Please bring in sunscreen (preferably spray type) ASAP. Please make sure your child's extra clothing includes t-shirts and shorts. Sandals would probably work best for the yard as sneakers and sock will get muddy and dirty especially when we start to use the sprinklers. In the hot weather I will be taking the children outside usually twice a day during the morning hours and later in the afternoon to avoid the direct sun.

Currently I have a full time opening at the daycare. If anyone refers someone they will received $25 credit towards the following week's care.

House Keeping

Just to make things easier to remember I will ask that everyone (full-timers 3-5 days in care)bring in 2 bottles of juice and 3 packs of wipes on the 1st on each month.

$10 is due this Friday for the May projects. This will now be due at the end of the second week of the month to ensure timely arrival. I hope you are enjoying your child's work as much as they enjoy doing them.

Recently the boys have discovered climbing on anything and everything. Please discuss with your child that furniture is not for jumping or climbing. I also ask that you do not have your child climb the stool by the window to watch you leave as they have become accustomed to spitting on the windows.

If your child has a runny nose please bring in a box of tissue. Reminder: If your child is sick with a fever, diarrhea, uncontrolled coughing, inexplicable or persistent crying, difficulty breathing, wheezing, any other unusual signs for the child or plain miserable please do not send your child to daycare. I will contact you if any of these signs do happen so that you may pick up your child immediately.

I've recently had to stop all trips because my husband's schedule has been changing frequently. Please be aware that some trips may now be schedule on short notice.

It has become apparent that many of the children will rarely eat breakfast lately and much of the food has gone to waste. Please let me know if your child has eaten in the morning.

Status of our plants

Unfortunately most of the plants did not grow, not for the lack of trying. I believe it had something to do with the cardboard egg cartons sucking all the water up because the only one that really grew were in the plastic carton. If anyone has any experience with this let me know. I did grow some extras in a pot and they are great. So I will evenly distribute the ones we have in May.
